Don graduated from the University of Texas with his Bachelors in Fine Arts, but he started as a Bio-Chem major. He wasn't fully committed to Science and knew he had a passion for art, so he changed his major and has made his living being a Professional Artist. Don has taught Basic Drawing for Design students at Drexel University in 1998 but feels his biggest accomplishment is that he has made a living being a professional artist.
His art has been used in commercial applications but also for fine art and his artwork is displayed at multiple art galleries in Chicago including the Carl Hammer Gallery as well as on his website.
Working with Faber-Castell on the Road Trip across America has given him the opportunity to be a wanderer and document the world around him with his artwork. Don holds drawing and illustration demos that focus on Don's drawing style as well as sketch-out events at some retailers. Don's unique style begins from his drawing journals; vintage journals from the 1900's. His main staples include Pitt Artist Pens, Polychromos Color Pencils, Albrecht Durer Watercolor Pencils, charcoals and graphite.
