It is not recommended to dip the tips of Faber-Castell watercolor pencils into water as it will compromise the integrity of the pencil. The lead and wood become soft and will become brittle which will then break easily. Humidity changes the structure of the lead and makes it crumble. The wood will soak up the water and the pencil cannot be sharpened any longer.
We recommend experimenting with many techniques to create your own style as there are various watercolor applications.
You may want to try:
Paint over a colored surface on the paper or canvas with a damp brush. The more often the surface is painted over, the more the strokes will dissolve.
You can dissolve the color pigment with a spray bottle too!
